One of the most challenging parts when it comes to makeup in my opinion is choosing the best foundation that is going to work for you. Now over the years I have tried out a LOT of foundations from drugstore to high end. Now I was part of the generation that was OBSESSED with Maybelline dream matte mousse (what were we thinking!). But I think we finally have a winner for drugstore foundation! Now I'm a full coverage Queen so if you're looking for a more natural, sheer foundation this is not the post for you.

Now I have heard nothing but good things about the Maybelline 24hr Superstay Foundation so I thought I would give it a shot. After the Maybelline foundations I had previously tried and tested I didn't know what to expect but I was seriously impressed with this foundation! This foundation is amazing! If you're looking for a super full coverage, long lasting foundation then you NEED this foundation in your life.

Pros:

This foundation offers super full coverage at super affordable price retailing for just £9.99. This foundation lasts hours upon hours and still looks great from 10am to 11pm and it could easily last longer. This foundation does have a matte formula which helps to create the full coverage, long lasting effect but it can easily be manipulated to make it look less matte and more dewy. Despite the fact it is full coverage and matte it doesn't look cakey which is often the case with foundations like this. You only need a small amount to cover your full face which helps to keep the foundation last but if you want you can layer it without it looking cakey.

Cons:

Due to the matte formula this foundation isn't ideal for anyone who has super dry skin as it does have a tendency to pick up on dry patches. If you're looking for a foundation with sheer to medium coverage this foundation isn't going to be for you. This foundation does also tend to break up around the smile lines and the forehead, however saying that this is the case for many foundations and can easily be combated by baking these areas with a loose powder, my favourite at the moment is the Maybelline master fix baking powder. This foundation does also tend to oxidise slightly which if you don't know is where a product dries down darker than how it originally goes on so you may need to get a shade lighter than your usual shade but I personally don't mind this as I prefer my foundation to be slighter darker than my skin tone as I am paler than pale can be.

Maybelline 24hr Superstay Foundation vs Huda Beauty Faux Filter Foundation

Both the Maybelline 24hr Superstay foundation and the Huda Beauty Faux Filter foundation offer amazing full coverage and the way they look on the skin and wear are super similar however, due to the price of the Huda Beauty foundation it is made with more expensive ingredients and does have more of an expensive feel to it in general. I have found that the Huda Beauty foundation doesn't require as much product to get the coverage you're wanting to achieve however as previously mentioned the Maybelline foundation doesn't require much more product. The other difference I have noticed between these 2 foundations is that the Maybelline foundation does oxidise slightly which can be tricky trying to find the shade which is going to work for you whereas the Huda Beauty foundation stays true to it's shade so you're not going to get a shock when you look in the mirror an hour after applying your makeup. I have also found that the Huda Beauty foundation doesn't break up as much in your smile lines and your forehead as the Maybelline foundation does. I have also found that the Huda Beauty foundation takes slightly less blending than the Maybelline foundation to get the same flawless finish.

I tend to use the Maybelline foundation for everyday makeup and I use the Huda Beauty foundation if I'm going out or for special occasions. If I could afford the Huda Beauty foundation for my everyday makeup then I would probably use it exclusively BUT I do think the way both foundations wear is amazing! I highly recommend the Maybelline 24hr Superstay foundation if you're looking for an affordable drugstore foundation which has amazing coverage that lasts ALL DAY. The Maybelline foundation is an amazing dupe for the Huda Beauty foundation and you can easily create a flawless base with minimal blending.
