So unless you've been living under a rock you will have heard the beauty community raving about the revolution fast base stick foundation, so a few days ago I decided to purchase this foundation I’d heard so many good things about and try it out for myself as I am VERY picky when it comes to my makeup. Makeup Revolution states “foundation just got faster! Launching in 18 shades and a range of undertones, Fast Base Foundation quickly perfects, contours and highlights your complexion. The easy-to-apply stick formula melts into skin, blending seamlessly to leave a fresh and dewy finish”.
This was just my first impression of this foundation and I did pick up the wrong shade. I tried shade F1 and F3 in the shop as they didn’t have F2. F1 looked like it was my exact match in the shop and F3 was wayyy too dark and way too pink I think I would have been better purchasing F2 online which has more of a yellow undertone rather than F1 which has a neutral undertone but I was impatient. I absolutely LOVE the packaging of this product I love the nude pink component with the rose gold. The thing is though I think I like the packaging more than the product inside. I first tried this foundation on its own and the finish wasn’t bad it definitely has a dewy finish which I’m all for a dewy finish as I have combination skin but for me personally I found it was a little too dewy it just looked wet and didn’t feel right on my face. I also found that it didn’t blend as seamlessly and as quickly as they claim. I always use a beauty blender for foundation application I have used brushes in the past and I am not a fan. In order to try and correct the colour and build the coverage, as this is definitely a medium coverage foundation and I am a full coverage queen, I swiped more of the stick foundation on and also dotted on a little of my ride or die drugstore foundation the Maybelline 24hr Superstay foundation. Once I did this I liked the coverage and the overall finish so much more. I found that mixing this foundation with a full coverage matte foundation gave the perfect in between matte and dewy finish with a full coverage that I was looking for even after powder and the rest of my base makeup. Another thing I found quite annoying is on my skin the foundation didn’t want to play well with my concealer, recently I have been using the Plouise base for not only my eye primer but as a concealer in the areas I want to highlight, maybe this product would have worked better if I had the Revolution concealer but I expect my foundations to work well with whatever concealer I choose, maybe this is a way for Revolution to have us investing in more of their products? I don’t know. Overall I did enjoy the end result of this foundation despite the fact it did start to look patchy towards the middle of the day but for me I just wasn’t a fan of the consistency of the foundation I found it was too waxy. In my opinion for the kind of finish I like I think this foundation is best mixed with another liquid foundation. However, saying this, I think i will still purchase my correct shade and see if I can change my opinion of this product as at a price point of £5 you really can’t go wrong! I think this product would work better on someone with dry skin, however, if you have dry and sensitive skin, due to the consistency of this foundation I imagine this product could irritate your skin.
